The population departure and consequent abandon of rural areas has increased in wildfire incidence, and there is a need to to find ways to support rural development by providing adequate training on fire and disaster related management.Only in the last 30  years more than one million and a half hectares were burnt in South Europe. The 2008 Forest Fire conference that took place in Toledo Spain identified as of mater of urgency the need for training on forest fire fighting techniques for forest fire managers,  forest enterprise managers, and rural development project managers.

This master focuses on multiple fire management activities:

  • development of strategies for forest-fire prevention and management vegetation and Ecosystem
  • Restoration assessment of the ecological, social and economic consequences of fires.
  • analysis of carbon footprint
  • human resource management on safety and health, public participation in forest fire fighting.

The master also offers elective courses on sustainable forest management, information analysis and Geographic Information Systems.

It combines online education with internship in companies
